The Vanguard Vortex: The Maidens of Massive PAIN

With Fighters’ Collection 2015 Winter just behind us, Maidens have gotten a couple of support cards, and my god is it glorious. After the release of Rambling Rose, Neo Nectar is the only other clan that stands next to DOTE-X with a 100% Legion loop. This isn’t where we’ll stop, though. I’ll be posting a Maidens build, along with a personal twist on this archetype.

Starting Vanguard: Maiden of Physallis

4x Maiden of Dimorphotheca (Crit)
4x Flower Garden Maiden, Mylis (Crit)
4x Maiden of Eggplant (Draw)

3x Valkyrie of Reclamation, Padmini

The second deck is a splash of Ahsha, because she’s who you would want to ride at G3. She sets up your field at any time once you hit Stride turns, and allows you to have giant columns. Once you start running out of deck, you Legion loop with Rambling/Trailing and keep beating face.

Now, what the hell is this infinite Legion loop business? Well it’s not infinite, but it’ll keep you alive for a while. This is much, much scarier on the pure Maidens build, since if you start your Legion loops early (as in you have at least 3 triggers + Rambling Rose to return), you are filtering your deck from the get go while keeping trigger pressure.

When you ride Rambling Rose, it’s SB2 to clone a G1. You can declare zero on the search, but then you Legion and put back the Rambling Rose, Trailing Rose, and 2 triggers of choice back to the deck. You seek that Trailing Rose you just Legion’d back in, and Rambling Rose’s effect allows you to tutor one Rambling and zero Trailing. That one Rambling goes into your hand, and well, you have zero to place on RG. Repeat as needed.
