Welcome back to the Side-by-Side for Grisaia no Kajitsu. Episode 2 beckons, and we are obviously hit with a hilarious scene.
Yumiko trying to cut Yuuji with a box cutter. I believe this scene was done in the classroom in the VN, but the anime puts them in a hallway, instead. Very small change, still getting the point across.
Oh, and you thought they were gone, but I… errr… Dio… have more pantsu shots for you!
Episode 2 marks the point in the series where we get the opening scene. First off, I will say that this is NOT the VN’s opening. I definitely prefer the anime OP, though. Anywho, there are A LOT of clues in here for those new to the series, while teasing the rest of us that have at least read the first one. FYI, Sachi DID brandish that broom at Julia once. Oh, and that last image? Those are pretty much their sprites in the VN.
Another completely new scene. We were never shown Yumiko complaining to Chizuru about Yuuji being in the school. I don’t know how to feel about it. It gives anime watchers some idea on how much Yumiko opposes Yuuji, yet the VN readers get a bit confused as to where this scene was. Still, it makes me think that the attackers Yuuji encounters in the VN were hired by Yumiko, but I’m holding confirmation until the series is over.
I think this is the first time we see it, but I love how they’ve captured the chibi CGs perfectly here. Oh… and “cut this out…” get it? Cutting? …………….Never mind….
The visual novel had Yuuji explain and incredibly disturbing war story as a “cool” story… probably wanted Makina to feel the chills (WROOOOOOOOOOONG!). yuuji pls
However, the anime does not. I really would have liked to see Makina’s reaction to it.
The initial meeting with JB. Oh yes. It was normal at first… then I remembered something. She had to explain to Yuuji (and to us, indirectly) of protocol regarding leaving the prefecture and all that jazz. It’s why she got mad just before she got in the car. He walked 200km (jeebus cripes) just because he didn’t like the train, all while carrying a survival pack, hence the interrogation scene in the beginning.
Definitely my favorite scene of the common route. You’d definitely know it after a few more episodes, but Yumiko isn’t as strong-willed as one might think. Then again, Yuuji’s face of “killing intent” is not to be taken lightly.
The credits on this episode was pretty cool. It’s definitely better than how the VN did it. The VN merely had Amane explain what order everyone arrived in Mihama. This way is cooler, I’d say.
